after the results come out, i'm so gonna die ~
owellls.
just went to check out the fuss abt this year de PSLE maths paper.
-'-
ended up my bro went to write all over my exam schedule and told me he dk how to do.
and he used algebra method.
Here's the question.
Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim. Jim ate 12 sweets and Ken ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Jim’s sweets to chocolates became 1:7 and the ratio of Ken’s sweets to chocolates became 1:4. How many sweets did Ken buy?
First thing and only thing i knew was that Jim never ate any chocolates and Ken never ate any sweets.Thats all i know.
HAHAHAH.
THEN, my bro, act pro, sit my my desk, go crap abt what algebra method and ended up he looked at the com screen and said," Eh, how come i have negative sweets and chocolates."
LOL. then he said he dunno how to do.
Somemore he take A Maths.
Owells, somethings are not meant to use algebra all the time.
Here's MrsKwek's solution.
Which has the correct answer.
Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken.
Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim.
The ratio of Jim’s sweets to chocolates became 1:7.
Jim ate 12 sweets
but Jim did not eat any chocolates.
and the ratio of Ken’s sweets to chocolates became 1:4.
Ken ate 18 chocolates
but Ken did not eat any sweets.
1 Ken unit = 1 Jim unit + 12
4 Ken units = 4 Jim units + 48
Ken originally had 2 Jim units + 24 before giving Jim
7 Jim units = 4 Ken unit + 18
= 4 Jim unit + 48 + 18
3 Jim units = 66
2 Jim units = 44
How many sweets did Ken buy?
Ken bought 2 Jim units + 24 = 44 + 24 = 68 sweets
Owells, lets just pray and hope this year's batch can do well.
